Was served in the Confederate army in Virginia. Enlisted as a private on 16 Jul 1861 at the age of 45 out of Augusta County, Virginia. He was in Company I, 52nd Infantry Regiment of Virginia. He was discharged from that company and regiment on 10 Feb 1863. He was 5'11" tall wt blue eyes and fair hair and complexion. His unit numbers were 812 and 812. He was a carpenter and miller and operated the flour mill at Valley Mills, Virginia.Father: Macom Kerr b: ABT 1790 in Scotland?
He was the ward of Philip O. Polmer, as noted on marriage bond from April 1837 (copy in file) for Elizabeth Summers, daughter of David Summers. Bond Book 1837-38 Vol. 26, Augusta County, VA.
He held patent #28757 from 9 May 1860 for an "improved churn."
